Garmin Forerunner 305 Cyber Monday. I bought this GPS/HRM early last year (2010) as a tool to help my daughter present a science project for their annual science fair. I have owned previous HRM, two from POLAR and one from OMRON. My elliptical machine picks up signals from my old HRM and erroneously reads elevated heart rates up to the 200′s and shuts down my elliptical machine at the start of my workouts. I bought this Garmin 305 basically just to use its heart rate monitoring function. For some reason, my elliptical machine is not affected by the transmissions from the chest strap of this Garmin 305 and was able to conduct the experiments that we need to finish her project. Afterwards, this HRM went in the closet and retired.

Garmin Forerunner 310XT Black Friday is perfect for running. I have not used the watch biking or swimming, but imagine the biking is very similar. I waited to put 50 miles on the watch running before writing a review. Today my total was 56.02 miles ran on the watch and I was excited to write a great review for this outstanding product. If you like fitness and you’re a gadget geek or like technology this is a match made in heaven.

Pros:
- Great Software (Garmin Connect) – Great to log your data and track your runs. I don’t necessarily use all the data, but love running and coming home to upload the data and see what I’ve done.

- Customizable Sport Screens – For each sport you may have various screens with different data fields. I have 4 different running screens that display various data. For instance, I have a Heart Rate screen that shows time of day, max heart rate, current heart rate, and average heart rate. Another data screen has Sunrise and Sunset for my location, distance ran, and calories burned. There are numerous fields you may chose from. I really like this flexibility.

- Size – I was worried it would be too large. I don’t wear this regularly, only when I am running, but is certainly not as heavy as the daily watch I wear. It fits nice and is not too bulky.

- Heart Rate Monitor – At first I didn’t care for this, but now I love watching how my exercise effects my heart rate over days or weeks. Since getting the watch I have had further motivation to run just to use the watch and analyze data. My HR has consistently gone down a little as I get into better shape.

- Ease of Use – for such complicated technology the watch is pretty darn easy to use and understand. I also believe that I am using the watch to its fullest as I read the manual front to back and understand the various menus and functions of the watch.

-Accuracy – The first day I got the watch I was curious about the accuracy. I drove in my car with a GPS, the Forerunner 310XT, and my odometer. All ended with the exact same results. Furthermore, I run on a marked bike path pretty often and it is dead on.

Garmin Forerunner 410 Black Friday I have been running with a iPhone 3GS (with RunKeeper) for about a year. The iPhone GPS tracking is OK, but not accurate enough. For a 5 km distance, the error can be about 400m. At the same time, I don’t like to use armband iPhone case hence I hold the iPhone in my hand while I run.

Considering the problems with the GPS accuracy and holding an iPhone 3GS while running, I decided to look for a GPS based sports watch. Garmin is an obvious choice as I am also using a Garmin Nuvi 1350 for my driving.

Garmin has the 405 and 405cx, but other review says the touch bezel on these are typically problematic. Reviewing through some Amazon.com offers, I found a good deal. 410 is the choice because of the new SirfStar IV GPS chipset which promised to be quicker in GPS acquisition also the improved touch bezel.

I Use this Garmin Forerunner 205 Black Friday six months for my workouts (running).The main reason that prompted me to buy it was to be able to vary my training routes but manage to control the essential parameters of my races.Inside the box you will find a small manual, the refill kits (both upload from your computer using the included USB cable, both from the power supply also included), a CD containing the Software Training Center (useful to see the paths you’ve done and create customized training programs), the guarantee and of course GPS.

As soon as I saw it I thought it was very big (and ugly), but putting it on the wrist is lightweight and comfortable (but still bad, at least for me).Connected to the PC I had no particular problems in the installation (Windows 7 has been recognized and in any case it is also Mac-compatible).Battery life depends on the type of registration you choose. The Forerunner 205 allows you to choose between registration point per second (more accurate) and intelligent recording. If you choose the first, the battery lasts about three and a half hours about 10 hours otherwise.
